Our services are offered to anyone who has become or is currently a vicitim of domestic violence or sexual abuse. Our crisis line is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Services are free and confidential. VIOLENCE IS A CHOICE - CHOOSE NOT TO ABUSE!.



Domestic Violence includes several behaviors that lead to the threat or use of physical abuse. These include but are not limited to:

  • Using Intimidation
  • Using Emotional Abuse
  • Using Isolation
  • Minimizing, Denying and Blaming
  • Using Children
  • Using Male Privilege
  • Using Economic Abuse
  • Using Coercion and Threats



Sexual Abuse is the use of sexual actions and words that are unwanted by and/or harmful to another person. Sexual violence is generally defined as any unwanted sexual activity such as:

  • Rape (acquaintance, stranger and marital)
  • Molestation or sexual abuse of children
  • Incest
  • Sexual Harassment
  • Obscene phone calls
  • Indecent exposure and voyeurism
  • Inappropriate fondling
  • Sexual exploitation of clients by professionals
  • Sexual violence is never the victims fault


Violence: There is a Safe Way Out The Carlton County Domestic and Sexual Abuse Program strives to provide caring, sensitive advocacy for victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse. The following are services that we provide:

  • 24 hr Emergency assistance for victims of sexual or domestic abuse
  • Emergency Housing for victims and their children
  • Assitance in filing Orders for Protection and Harassment Restraining Orders
  • Legal Advocacy & Support
  • Community education and public speaking
  • Community based support/education groups for survivors
  • Violence awareness education K-12
  • Opportunity for volunteers & interns
  • Safety Plan creation
